I’m a practicing Catholic and I do believe God is with me, but day-to-day I honestly forget. I’ll pray in the morning, feel close to God for a few minutes, and then the rest of the day I’m rushing, stressed, scrolling, working, and it’s like I’m spiritually “asleep.”
I’m not asking for dramatic feelings or visions—actually I’m wary of chasing emotions—but I do want a steady awareness that God is present and loving, even when life is ordinary or messy. I go to Mass on Sundays and confession sometimes, but I’m inconsistent. I also feel guilty because I know I should be grateful and prayerful, yet I’m distracted.
What practical steps or Catholic practices have helped you grow in awareness of God’s presence throughout the day? Any specific prayers, habits, Scripture passages, or ways of offering your work? Also, how do you do this without becoming scrupulous or anxious about “not doing enough”?
